Operator Spotlight : Kim and Patrick from Feature Booth

Today we chatted with newcomers to the Australian photo booth industry Kim and Patrick from Brisbane based Feature Booth. Feature Booth also service Ipswich and the Gold Coast. Kim and Patrick sat down with us and let us have a sneak peak into their photo booth world.

Describe what you believe it is about photo booths which makes them so popular? 

Kim: Photo booths are a fun experience to enjoy with your family and friends. We’ve seen even the shiest people have an amazing time with lots of laughs. Especially in an enclosed photo booth where it’s just the camera and them. It’s a guaranteed laugh in a photo booth.

Patrick: Photo booths add a lot of entertainment for guests and fun to the atmosphere of an event. Today, everyone has a camera on their phone with hundreds of photos that will never be printed. Having a physical print that the guests can walk away with leaves them with a much more memorable and lasting possession. 

How long have you been a "photo boother" and what made you decide to become one? 

Kim: We’ve been running Feature Booth for nearly a year. We decided to get into this business because not only is it fun for the guests, it’s also fun for us! We get to meet a lot of interesting and great people and there’s something very satisfying about seeing and hearing people enjoying themselves in our booth. 

What do you believe it is about your photo booth hire business that sets it apart from your local competition? 

Patrick: We want to deliver to our clients a quality product by people who care. We try to work closely with our clients on making the booth, template, props, more personable to the event/client so they are able to have the best possible experience for themselves but also for their guests. I have a commercial photographer background in which I have been able to cross over some of my technical knowhow to the photo booth, although we have been running for almost a year now we are constantly refining our process/set up to ensure we are able to exceed the expectations of our clients. We have big plans for 2017!

What's the best tip you can give someone who is considering hiring a photo booth for their important event?

Kim: It’s a really good idea to look at the photos/designs they offer and their inclusions before booking. We’ve found that even though someone is the cheapest, it doesn’t mean you’ll get the best quality.

Patrick: I think if someone is looking for a photo booth for their event, they are looking for something that will have a lasting impression on their guests and something they can look back on fondly. I would recommend to look into the features/inclusions that are on offer and if they can really have that personalised photo booth experience that won’t feel cookie cut from other photo booths events.

What's the funniest thing you have ever seen happen in a photo booth? 

Patrick: It would have to be the family of thirteen trying to squeeze in so their ninety eight year old grandmother will be the centre of the image. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the booth! 

Who in your opinion has the most fun in a photo booth kids or adults, boys or girls, men or women?   

Kim: I think maybe women! Definitely a group of women together! (laughs) But really I think everyone has the best time in a booth! 

Patrick: Adults! Adults turn into kids once that booth curtain closes and they really let loose.
